Ambassador Susman Urges American Citizens to vote in the 2012 U.S. Elections

Ambassador Susman Urges American Citizens to vote in the 2012 U.S. Elections

Ambassador Susman:  Wherever I travel throughout the United Kingdom, it is so gratifying to meet and talk to so many Americans -– and to hear the American accent everywhere.

In the business and cultural worlds we have an impressive number of expats working in this country, and a large U.S. student population here too.

Some of you are in the UK for just a few months; others have settled for good.

But something common to us all -- whatever we're doing, wherever we now call home -- is that we all value the rights that we have as Americans.

And whatever our politics, we share an unshakeable faith in the most basic expression of what it is to be an American: a belief in government of the people, by the people, for the people.

That is why I encourage all Americans in the UK to take part in this year's national elections.

The Embassy here in London is standing by to help you register for absentee voting.  Just visit one of the websites shown on the screen to learn more.

Make sure you can have your say this November.  After all, it's your right – and it’s your government.
