Applying for a visa through the Courier Service

Who is eligible?

  • Children under the age of 14;
  • Adults aged 80 and over who are:
    • not ineligible to receive a visa;
    • have not been refused a visa under Section 214(b), or if refused, the refusal has been overcome; and
    • have not been denied entry into or removed from the United States.

NoteApplicants aged 14 and over who were born in or hold a passport from Cuba, Syria, Sudan or Iran are required to schedule an appointment for an interview.

Applicants must be physically present in the United Kingdom to apply for a visa through the Embassy appointed courier company.  A consular officer reserves the right to request that a visa applicant appear in person for an interview after reviewing his or her visa application.

How to Apply

Applicants eligible to submit their visa application by courier are required to use the services of DX Secure for the delivery of their documents to and from the Embassy.  Before contacting DX Secure, you should ensure that you are in  possession of all of the documents and forms required to apply for the visa.  Please click on this link for further information.  Please note that the MRV application fee is paid the Operator Assisted Information Service prior to submitting your application to the Embassy. 

Note:  If you are eligible to apply for a visa through the courier service but wish to apply in person, you may do so.  You will be required to call the Operator Assisted Information Service to schedule an appointment.  

Processing Times

The visa application will take between 5 - 7 workdays to process from the date of receipt.  On completion of processing, the passport will be handed to the courier service for delivery. The courier service offers next workday delivery for most of the United Kingdom.  Please ensure that you add to the processing time, the time it will take for the passport to be returned to you. Once the application has been submitted it will not be possible to expedite processing. DX Secure Collection and Delivery Service

    You may arrange for the collection and delivery of your passport and visa application on-line by visiting the DX Secure website.

    Reminder: Applications submitted to the Embassy through the courier service will take approximately 7 workdays to process before the passport is handed back to the courier for delivery. 

DX Secure Tracking Service

    You can track the progress of your passport on-line by visiting www.thedx.co.uk/tracking. You will need your invoice number and the postcode quoted on the invoice.

    Reminder: Your passport will not be handed to the courier company until the Visa Section has processed your application.

    Note:
      If your passport has not been handed to the courier company, you will receive a message saying "Sorry, this combination of tracking number and postcode do not correspond with our records. Please check and try again".
