Ambassador Tuttle hosts Embassy Iftar

On October 4, Ambassador Tuttle hosted an official Embassy iftaar at his residence at Winfield House, with over 100 guests in attendance. This event – the seventh of its kind hosted by Embassy London – reinforces our commitment to friendship, mutual understanding and respect with the British Muslim community. Guests included colleagues and representatives from the diplomatic corps, Her Majesty’s Government officials, the Muslim community, and others engaged with the Islamic world.

U.S. presidents have been hosting iftaars at the White House since the Clinton administration, so Embassy London is fortunate to be continuing a positive and important tradition of hosting friends and colleagues to break bread on this important occasion. We look forward to continuing to find ways to build bridges, engage with others, and create strong relationships with Muslims around the world.

The Ambassador gave an interview to The Islam Channel, as well, on the occasion of Ramadan. He has also extended the following greeting for Eid:

“On behalf of the American Embassy and the American people, I would like to extend our warmest greetings to your viewers on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr. We hope that you viewers around the world will enjoy this day; a day that celebrates peace, fellowship, generosity, forgiveness and piety, with loved ones and friends. May the coming year bring you and yours peace and happiness. Eid Mubarak.”
