King's College London Joins Secretary Clinton in a Town Hall Meeting

Demonstrating America's strengthened engagement with Europe, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke about U.S.-EU relations at the European Parliament in Brussels on March 6th in front of 800 young European professionals in a discussion entitled: "Europe-U.S.: The Next Generation Takes the Floor." Secretary Clinton's remarks were webcast live at Embassy London (as well as 20 other American embassies in Europe) in front of 30 specially-invited King's College London Master's students from the university's War Studies Department. Minister Counselor for Public Affairs Sandra Kaiser introduced the event and spoke with the students beforehand about policy directions toward Afghanistan, Pakistan and Russia as previewed by the Secretary at her March 5 Brussels press conference. The students asked a wide range of questions regarding issues about U.S. policy with Europe, China, Sudan, Somalia, and Mexico.

We regularly host public webchats through the State Department website www.America.gov. In fact, the next webchat will take place on March 11th discussing President Obama's first 100 days in office. If you would like to join the webcast, please click here.

Finally, If you would like an Embassy official to speak to your school or organization, please send us an email at: londonspeakers@state.gov .
