13 May 2009 Frogs: The Thin Green Line
Frogs are dying throughout the world in massive numbers. Why? As part of its environmental film series, the Embassy explored this question by premiering a new documentary on May 13th called Frogs: The Thin Green Line. The film describes the threat facing frogs from climate change, habitat destruction, and most importantly chytrid – a frog-killing fungus.
At the conclusion of the film, audience members asked questions of the film’s six-time Emmy award winning director Allison Argo and wildlife disease expert Dr. Andrew Cunningham (Zoological Society of London). Besides the Embassy film screening, director Allison Argo also spoke to groups throughout London. She showed excerpts of the film to students at the Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets and the Brooke House Sixth Form College in Hackney. She also spoke with wildlife experts at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in Surrey.

Many groups in the UK are also aware of the frog-decline problem. For example, the film screening was kicked off by showing The Prince's Rainforests Project's new campaign video, featuring His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and some other well-known faces appearing alongside the Project's rainforest ambassador - the frog. Representatives from The Prince's Rainforests Project were in attendance for the event and described the project's goal of raising awareness about the link between rainforest destruction and climate change.
