  • 6 billion while $605 million were reciprocated

  • The UK is the number one market in the European Union for U.S. agricultural products

  • Ranked the seventh most important destination in the world


  • Consumer oriented products are the most important sector in export value terms, reaching record levels in 2006


  • Consumer oriented products accounted for 50 percent of total exports of U.S. agricultural, fish and forestry products to the UK


  • Among consumer-ready products, wine and beer are the biggest sellers


  • The UK is one of the premier markets in the world for American wines. Other consumer-ready best prospects are horticultural products, snack foods and sauces


  • The UK is also a key market for U.S. fish and seafood products


  • The largest amount of fish and seafood products exported is canned salmon, although increasing volumes of fresh and frozen salmon from the wilds of Alaska are entering the UK


  • Considerable volumes of Alaskan pollack have entered the UK over the last 4 years


  • Timber generated $198 million of export revenue in 2006


  • American hardwoods, accounted for $79 million
