MRV Application Fee
Nonimmigrant visa applicants are required to pay an MRV fee unless exempt from the fee requirement.
The MRV Fee Schedule is tiered as follows:

- Petition Based Applicants (H, L, O, P, Q, R) - $190:00;
- E-1, E-2 & E-3 visa applicants - $270.00.
The fee is paid to the Operator Assisted Information Service, with the exception of E-1 & E-2 visa applicants (see below). Payment is by credit or debit card - Visa, MasterCard or American Express; we do not accept Visa Electron or Maestro cards. If a third party will pay on your behalf, the card holder must be available during the call to speak with the agent and authorize payment.
The fees changes occurred on April 13, 2012. Please follow this link for further information.
E-1 & E-2 visa applicants please note: You will be instructed by the Treaty Visa Unit with regard to the method of payment. Please do not call the Operator Assisted Information Service unless instructed to do so by the Treaty Visa Unit.
Issuance Fees
Nationals of certain countries are required to pay an issuance fee in order for an approved visa to be issued. Fees are based on reciprocity and reflect the charges levied by the applicant's government to a U.S. citizen for a similar service. Note: The only issuance fees charged to a British Citizen passport holder is for the L-2 and E-1/E-2 visas.
Applying in person: Those applying for a visa in person through a pre-arranged appointment, will be advised whether or not an issuance fee is required. Issuance fees are paid to the Embassy cashier. Fees may be paid in cash - dollars or sterling equivalent, by Credit Card - Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, Discover or American Express or Debit Card - Visa. The Embassy does not accept any other credit or debit cards, or personal checks.
Applying for a visa through the Courier Service: Nonimmigrant Visa applicants eligible to apply for a visa by courier and who are required to pay an issuance fee, may pre-authorize payment of that fee at the time they submit their application. Payment is by credit card - Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, Discover or American Express. The form may be downloaded by clicking on the Credit Card Payment Form for Visa Issuance Fee, Form NIV-30a (PDF - 48Kb).
If your application is denied, the credit card payment form will be returned to you and no charge made against your credit card.
If you do not wish to pre-authorize payment, you should wait for the Embassy to process your application. If your application is successful, the Embassy will notify you by mail of the issuance fee and methods of payment.
