Rice Mourns Passing of Former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice expressed sadness at the sudden passing of former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook, calling him "a friend of the United States, a skilled diplomat, and a passionate defender of human freedom and dignity."

Statement by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice

The Death of Former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook

I am saddened by the sudden passing of former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook. Mr. Cook was a friend of the United States, a skilled diplomat, and a passionate defender of human freedom and dignity. As Foreign Secretary, he played a key role in ending ethnic cleansing and building peace, stability and democracy in the Balkans. We mourn his passing.
