There is a new phishing scheme that professes to be from the IRS Office in London. The sender states that he is an IRS employee and asks you to pay a transfer charge or processing fee in order to obtain a substantial sum of money.
A second scheme is targeting non-resident aliens (NRAs) by requesting that you complete an attached but fraudulent W-8BEN. The official form W-8BEN does not request bank account details.
Do not reply to these attempts to gain your personal information or your money. The IRS does NOT request detailed personal information through e-mail. These are a hoax and have been reported to our criminal investigators for appropriate action.
More information can be found in the IRS.gov article How to Report and Identify Phishing and E-mail Scams at IRS.gov.

We provide over-the-counter assistance on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not take appointments. We cannot accept cash payments. We do not provide direct preparation of tax returns, but will assist with your specific questions. The nearest underground station is Bond Street on the Central and Jubilee lines (please see our location guide for details).  Visitors to the IRS office must now queue in the American Citizen Services line. You will need photo ID for security purposes. Please do not bring mobile phones or electronic devices, such as Blackberries, IPods, or PDAs, as they are not allowed within the Embassy. You are also strongly advised to not bring large bags, such as backpacks or suitcases. Not following this advice will result in considerable delays at the security check point.
