Internal Revenue Service (IRS)

General Information

We provide over-the-counter assistance on a first-come, first-served basis. We can assist with notices, forms, ITIN applications and answer questions to facilitate return preparation. All payments must be made by check, in U.S. dollars.

Please note:  Electronic devices such as laptops are not allowed within the Embassy grounds.  For a list of prohibited items and storage facilities within the vicinity of the Embassy, please click here (PDF - 440Kb, 1 page).  Large bags, such as backpacks, suitcases or packages classed above cabin-size allowance are also not allowed within the Embassy grounds. Please see this PDF file for a list of Left Luggage storage facilities (PDF - 36kb). Visitors who do not follow these instructions will experience considerable delays at the security check point.

All IRS forms can be downloaded from IRS.gov. If you would like to receive forms by U.S. mail, you can order them at http://www.irs.gov/uac/Forms-and-Publications-by-U.S.-Mail or by calling 1-267-941-1000.

There is a large amount of information on both our Embassy website and IRS.gov.  Please take advantage of these resources before contacting us, as our office has limited staff and your questions will be resolved more quickly through electronic means. If mailing forms and payments to our office, please be aware there is a small delay as they go through the Embassy's internal mail system.

As of July 1, 2013, the electronic filing of FinCEN 114, Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR) is mandatory through the BSA E-Filing System. This includes delinquent returns. More information can be found on our FBAR page. Information for filers about the filing requirement is available on the IRS website: IRS Reminds Those with Foreign Assets of U.S. Tax Obligations
