Emergency Appointment - London

Please note: There is no walk-in service for American citizens requiring emergency passports. This service is by appointment only.
Check our appointment calendar and if there is no appointment within 24 hours of your travel, contact us using our contact form. When completing the form please include your email address and state the nature of the emergency and proposed date of travel. The email box is monitored between 8:00 am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, except for American and British public holidays.
Processing Times
Same-day issuance is available for applications that are complete and straightforward. In some cases, if additional review is required, same day service may not be available.
Application Procedure
For a list of required documents, please return to the Passport Index page and select the service you require from the list. Application requirements, including fees, for emergency passports are the same as those for full-validity passports, except that you will not be required to provide a courier envelope.
Attending the Embassy in London

Electronic devices such as laptops are not allowed within the Embassy grounds. For a list of prohibited items and storage facilities within the vicinity of the Embassy, please click here.
Large bags, such as backpacks, suitcases or packages classed above cabin-size allowance are also not allowed within the Embassy grounds. Please see this PDF file for a list of Left Luggage storage facilities (PDF - 36kb).
Visitors who do not follow these instructions will experience considerable delays at the security check point, which could result in the interview being cancelled.
