03 May 2007 Statement by U.S. Special Envoy for Northern Ireland, Under Secretary Paula Dobriansky, following the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) announcement to end all paramilitary activity:-
“We welcome today's statement committing the UVF and Red Hand Commando to end all paramilitary activity. The statement is a clear recognition that the people of Northern Ireland want peace and stability. These organizations must now match their statements with concrete actions, including decommissioning. Northern Ireland deserves no less”.
