Special Envoy Dobriansky Leading Investment Mission to Northern Ireland

President Bush’s Special Envoy for Northern Ireland, Ambassador Paula J. Dobriansky, will lead a mission to Belfast, Northern Ireland, February 25-26. She will be joined by President of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation Robert Mosbacher, the Department of Treasury’s representative in Europe Barbara C. Matthews, and by representatives from the U.S. private sector.

This trip follows an initial investment mission in October 2007, led by Ambassador Robert Tuttle and Ambassador Thomas Foley, the U.S. Ambassadors to London and Dublin, respectively. Together, these missions will lay the groundwork for the May 7-9 U.S.-Northern Ireland Investment Conference in Belfast, featuring Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The United States encourages investment in Northern Ireland as a means of promoting prosperity and security to accompany the peace and stability brought about by the power-sharing government established in May 2007.
