U.S. Economic Envoy to Northern Ireland, Declan Kelly welcomed today’s announcement by Seagate of new research and development investments in Northern Ireland.
“Seagate is already a significant employer in Northern Ireland and has been operating in the region since 1993. The investment of nearly £60m demonstrates to potential investors the confidence a major American technology company has in the highly skilled Northern Ireland workforce, and in the region as a whole.”
“Once again, the work of Invest Northern Ireland and Minister Foster has delivered an excellent investment to the region. The Seagate expansion is expected to create over 80 new jobs in the North West and 10 research positions at Queens University, Belfast. This investment distinguishes Northern Ireland as a strategic location for advanced nanotechnology research and development.”
“Partnerships like the one established between Seagate and Queens University are key in driving innovation, and are crucial to Northern Ireland’s future economic growth,” concluded Envoy Kelly.
