Lisa Vickers entered the Foreign Service in May 1990. Her first posting was as a consular officer in Mexico City, Mexico from 1991-93; she then served as a management officer in Suva, Fiji from 1993-95; Chief of the Consular Section in Helsinki, Finland from 1996-99; American Citizens’ Services Chief in Warsaw, Poland from 2000-02; Consul General in Kiev, Ukraine from 2002-3, and as Principal Officer and Consul in Merida, Mexico from September 2003 until July 2006. It is an honor to serve as Consul in Edinburgh, Scotland. Edinburgh has special significance for Ms. Vickers, as it was the first American consulate that she had ever visited prior to becoming a Foreign Service Officer.

Ms. Vickers is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, and she received her Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California in 1986. She studied at Durham University in Durham, England from 1984-85, and was a member of Collingwood College. Ms. Vickers speaks Spanish, and has studied Finnish and Polish.
