Department of Defense Press Spokesman response to 28 May 2009 Daily Telegraph Article on Detainee Photos

The Daily Telegraph article is wrong and mischaracterizes the photographs in question. None of the photographs in question depict the images described in the article. The photographs in question were part of criminal investigations into possible mistreatment of detainees.

The Department of Defense takes all complaints of detainee abuse seriously and investigates every credible abuse claim. Any abuse of detainees is unacceptable. It is against our values, endangers our security and will not be tolerated.
