10 May 2007 Ambassador's Statement on Prime Minister Blair's Announcement
During Prime Minister Blair's tenure at Number 10 Downing Street, the U.S.-UK relationship has had no more committed advocate or supporter. He understands the importance of close, frank U.S.-UK relations to international security and to the promotion of freedom around the world.
As Prime Minister, he has worked constructively and tirelessly to preserve and enhance our excellent bilateral relationship in all areas - diplomatic, commercial, military, and person-to-person. We extend our thanks to him, as well as our best wishes on his future endeavors. Of course we look forward to working closely with his successor.
The unique and special friendship between the United States and the United Kingdom, which has endured for two centuries, has made and will continue to make the world a better place for all.
