19 November 2008 American Embassy Pays Tribute to Ian Ralston, Former Director at Liverpool John Moores University

Ambassador Robert Tuttle today paid tribute to a British academic who has devoted 30 years of his life to furthering understanding of the United States to students in the Liverpool area and beyond.
Mr. Ian Ralston, until his retirement this summer the Director of the American Studies Resources Centre at Liverpool John Moores University, travelled to London with his wife Rita to receive a State Department Tribute of Appreciation from Ambassador Tuttle.
Ambassador Tuttle said: "Ian Ralston has contributed a huge amount towards an informed and lively debate about America in the UK, through his work. Through his teaching over 30 years and through 21 years as Director of the ASRC in Liverpool, he has spread enthusiasm and knowledge about the U.S. to countless scholars."
"'I would like to thank him for his dedicated contribution to American Studies, and wish him a long and happy retirement.'"
The work of the ASRC continues and can be viewed at http://www.americansc.org.uk/. The Centre was formed 21 years ago with support from the U.S. Embassy in London, and the British Association for American Studies.
