15 July 2005 Arrival of New U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James's
The United States Ambassador to the Court of St. James's, Robert Holmes Tuttle and Mrs. Maria Tuttle are scheduled to arrive in London on Saturday, July 16. Ambassador Tuttle was sworn in on July 14 in Washington, D.C. by Secretary of State Rice. He plans to take up his duties immediately upon presenting his credentials to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on Monday, July 18.
The U.S. Senate confirmed Ambassador Tuttle's nomination to the Court of St. James's on June 30. A businessman with extensive experience in the private sector, Mr. Tuttle has served on the boards of several prominent civic organizations, including the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Foundation, the University of Southern California Annenberg School of Communication, and the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. He began a second career in the public sector when he joined the White House staff in 1982 as Assistant to President Reagan. In 1985 President Reagan appointed him Director of Presidential Personnel, a position he held until the end of the Reagan administration.
A California native, Mr. Tuttle graduated from Stanford University and earned his M.B.A. at the University of Southern California. He and his wife are collectors of modern and contemporary art.
